Civil Aviation Academy: from Dream to Prestigious Profession

Civil Aviation Academy: from Dream to Prestigious Profession

The Civil Aviation Academy is the only specialized higher education institution in Kazakhstan for training aviation specialists. The Academy's educational programs are designed in line with international civil aviation standards and requirements. The Academy provides a continuous training system – from technical and vocational education to bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees – preparing pilots, air traffic controllers, engineering and technical specialists, and other professionals in high demand across the aviation industry.

MAIN GROUPS OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

B067 – "Air Transport and Technologies"

• technical maintenance of aircraft and engines;

• technical maintenance of aviation and radio-electronic equipment;

• airport operations management;

• unmanned aerial vehicles and systems;

• air transportation technology;

• aviation security;

• intelligent systems.

B167 – "Flight Operation of Aircraft and Engines"

• civil aircraft pilots;

• civil helicopter pilots;

• air traffic controllers for air traffic services and air navigation support.

B095 – "Transport Services"

• transport logistics;

• ground handling systems integration.

College graduates applying for shortened programs of study in related fields under educational program groups B067 and B095 may take part in the admissions competition with a minimum UNT (Unified National Testing) score of 25 points, provided they score at least 5 points in each subject.

UNT CORE SUBJECTS

For B067 and B167, the core subjects are mathematics and physics.

For B095: mathematics and geography.

Minimum requirements: applicants must score at least 5 points in History of Kazakhstan and in each of the two core subjects, and at least 3 points in reading literacy and mathematical literacy.

For applicants entering shortened programs after college, the core subjects are determined based on the chosen group of educational programs.

PILOTS AND AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS: ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission to flight specialties differs from admission to many other educational programs. It is not enough for a future pilot to simply achieve the required UNT score. Candidates must also undergo a medical examination and obtain a medical certificate confirming their fitness to train in the chosen specialty.

Medical examinations for flight programs and air traffic controller training are conducted at a specialized aviation medical center in Almaty or Astana.

For candidates applying to the "Flight Operation of Aircraft and Engines" program, medical fitness is one of the key conditions for further selection.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE – AN IMPORTANT PART OF SELECTION

English holds special importance for future aviation specialists. International aviation uses English as one of its main tools of professional communication, making proficiency in the language a critical part of training for pilots and other specialists.

Selection for pilot programs takes into account a valid international certificate, such as:

• IELTS – 5.0 or higher;

• TOEFL iBT – 57 or higher;

• TOEFL CBT – 163 or higher;

• TOEFL PBT – 487 or higher.

Candidates without an international certificate may take an English language test at the Academy.

DOCUMENT SUBMISSION

Document submission generally takes place from June to August. Documents can be submitted through the eGov.kz portal or directly to the Academy's admissions committee.

The main package of documents includes:

• a certificate or diploma of education;

• an identity document;

• 3×4 photographs;

• a medical certificate (Form 075-U) with fluorography results;

• a UNT certificate;

• a certificate confirming an educational grant, if applicable;

• a medical certificate and fitness assessment – for applicants to flight programs;

• an international IELTS or TOEFL certificate, if available.

Documents in a foreign language must be accompanied by a notarized translation into Kazakh or Russian.

If an educational document was issued by a foreign educational organization, it must undergo a recognition procedure in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Admission to the Civil Aviation Academy is the first step on a great professional journey for those who dream of a life connected to the sky.
