In the 2025-2026 academic year, Kazakhstan strengthened its support for gifted students. Around 1.6 million students participated in more than 80 republican intellectual competitions.

At the international level, the country was represented by 5,052 students. They participated in 37 olympiads and science competitions, winning 1,026 medals, including 190 gold, 332 silver, and 504 bronze. An additional 56 participants received special awards.
Achievements in mathematics deserve special mention. The national team of Kazakhstan became the absolute leader of the European Mathematical Olympiad in Vilnius. At the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in Thessaloniki, the team ranked 6th overall among countries with strong mathematical schools.
Kazakhstani students also participated in Regeneron ISEF, the world's largest science and engineering fair, held in Phoenix. One of the participants received a special award and a scholarship from a foreign university for a project focused on the early detection of cancer using artificial intelligence.
At the international robotics competitions in Houston, Kazakhstani students won 12 awards among more than 50,000 participants. By the end of autumn, the country's students plan to compete in over 10 more international competitions.
Following the instructions of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, winners and prize-holders of international olympiads and science competitions receive one-time cash prizes. A gold medal awards 1,500 monthly calculation indices (MCI), a silver medal awards 1,000, and a bronze medal awards 500. Teacher-coaches receive incentive payments ranging from 8.5 to 26.5 base salaries.
As a reminder, in August 2025, the Head of State met with olympiad winners at the Akorda for the first time. During the August Conference, he also honored their mentors with state awards.
