On July 22, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, held a meeting with Youngsuk Chi, KAIST Distinguished Professor, Chairman of the Board of Elsevier, and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of RELX Group.

During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening scientific infrastructure, expanding Kazakhstani scientists' access to international research and analytical databases, and prospects for further developing strategic partnership.

The Minister shared ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's position as an international educational center and attracting foreign students. Additionally, joint projects with leading international technology companies aimed at developing and implementing artificial intelligence technologies in education, science, and governance were presented.

Special attention was given to the project for opening a branch of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST Kazakhstan) in the city of Alatau, which will serve as a platform for training a new generation of engineers and researchers.

The delegation also familiarized themselves with the activities of the country's leading universities, visiting Nazarbayev University as well as the branches of Cardiff University and Coventry University.

Following the meeting, both parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation in the digital transformation of science and higher education. They also expressed readiness to continue joint work aimed at improving the quality of scientific research, implementing innovative solutions, and applying advanced international experience.
