Woosong University Kazakhstan: Demand for Specialists Is Growing

A first-year student orientation ceremony took place at Woosong University Kazakhstan in Turkestan. For the second consecutive year, the university has been training specialists in Kazakhstan in high-demand fields of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. This year, the number of educational grants provided by the Akimat of the Turkestan region doubled – from 100 to 200 – as reported by Modern Education magazine, citing the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MSHE RK).

The event was attended by Gulzat Kobenova, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RK; Kim Song-kyung, Chairman of the Woosong Educational Foundation; Kim Hong-gi, President of Woosong University Kazakhstan; representatives of the faculty; and students.

Woosong University Kazakhstan is implementing an international educational project in accordance with the directive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The university trains qualified personnel in AI and digital technology fields, providing opportunities to receive an international education directly in Kazakhstan.

A key indicator of the project's growth has been the increase in educational grants. While the Akimat of the Turkestan region provided 100 grants last year, the number rose to 200 this year. Grant recipients study under the "Artificial Intelligence" and "Data Science" educational programs.

"The expansion of grant support demonstrates the strong demand for training specialists in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. International educational projects allow our students to gain modern knowledge and competencies required in the labor market," noted Gulzat Kobenova, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RK.

Students from the Republic of Korea who arrived in Kazakhstan for a one-semester academic exchange program also attended the ceremony. Among them were participants in the Active Intensive English Program and the Cultural Exchange Program – 32 students from Woosong University, including international students studying under Woosong scholarship programs. Additionally, 17 students undergoing military training as part of the ROTC program participated in the event.
