All Levels of Education, Scientists and International Experts in the New Issue of the "Modern Education" Magazine

The second issue of our quarterly magazine, "Modern Education," has been released. The main theme of the issue is the integration of artificial intelligence at all levels of education. Within its pages, you will find articles and interviews with education leaders – Minister of Enlightenment Zhuldyz Suleimenova, Vice Ministers of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dinara Shcheglova and Gulzat Kobenova, rectors and vice-rectors of leading universities – as well as materials from international and Kazakhstani experts, features on preschool, school, and secondary vocational education, and the most prominent education news.

This time, the face of the magazine is Kozybayev University – the center of higher education and science in the North Kazakhstan region. Educational collaboration with the University of Arizona, joint research projects on sustainable water management and sulfur polymerization, and cooperation with the Henan Agricultural Investment Group to establish the Kazakh-Chinese Technopark of Agricultural Technologies and Export Development in the Kyzylzhar District—along with joint efforts with regional enterprises and government agencies to implement scientific developments—make it a prime example of technological breakthrough and investment attraction.

“The main task of our university is the development of regional scientific clusters, including in the areas of the agro-industrial complex, food security, and water supply,” says Erbol Isakaev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Kozybayev University, in an interview with our magazine. “We strive to ensure that any major enterprise in the region – whether an agricultural holding or a machine-building plant – views Kozybayev University as its main research and development department.”

The Kozybayev University project, led by Professor Dmitry Berillo, is aimed at establishing a Center of Academic Excellence in Water Resources in the North Kazakhstan region. An international team of scientists is developing high-tech solutions for drinking water purification, bioremediation of water bodies, and digital monitoring of flood situations. The execution of the project will improve the environmental situation and public health, while increasing the efficiency of the region's agro-industrial complex. The rector of the university speaks with pride about his students. And his words are confirmed by their innovative developments using artificial intelligence technologies, which are already being successfully applied in various organizations across the region. The third feature in the block about Kozybayev University is dedicated to these students – the future of the region's IT sector.

It is worth noting that the university has been selected as the anchor institution for the implementation of the AI-Sana program – a national project for the development of artificial intelligence. Today, it ranks among the top 10 universities and is the first in Kazakhstan by the number of students who have completed basic courses on the Huawei, Coursera, and Astana Hub platforms.

In our issues, we continue a series of publications about universities from different cities, cooperation with which we are proud of. These include the Civil Aviation Academy and Abai KazNPU (Almaty), S. Seifullin KATIU (Astana), and D. Serikbaev EKTU (Ust-Kamenogorsk); analytical materials are also presented by Darkhan Bilyalov (Nazarbayev University) and experts from Narxoz University.

Interesting materials have started coming from the business partners of universities and colleges. In this issue, we feature the national giant KazMunayGas, under whose patronage Kazakhstani youth undergo professional training, and Dahua Technology, with whose support Almaty Polytechnic College trains students in the field of Smart-Tech using the most advanced equipment.

The ever-expanding international cooperation of Kazakhstan in the field of education has brought us new connections. In the previous issue, Neil Marshall, Development Director of the developer company ChangeSchool, already appeared with an interview on change management in universities; in this issue, Viren Lall, Managing Director of ChangeSchool, spoke about the British experience of integrating AI into the educational process. We gathered valuable materials for educators at the AI for Education summit held in Almaty – world expert Paddy McGrath revealed a comprehensive understanding of inclusion in schools, relevant for every educational institution, while Valeria Mazzetti, representing the Maria Montessori International Centre, explained how artificial intelligence can be used within the aspect of this globally recognized methodology for working with young children.

In this issue, you will also find informative materials on training educators in artificial intelligence by the "Orleu" National Center for Professional Development, as well as features on preschool, secondary, technical and vocational, and additional education in Astana and Almaty. In these sections, college and school directors, kindergarten heads, and staff members of the State Scientific and Methodological Center for New Technologies in Education of the Almaty Education Department share their developments and innovations.
